Is Deep Ellum an obsession? No… I would call it an “on and off again” love affair. She flirted with me in the 80’s and 90’s. It was fun while it lasted. We lost touch for many years but, the memories remained. Then, as if by fate, our paths crossed again. In the Fall 2011, through circumstance and necessity, the opportunity to resume the relationship presented itself. The flame was never extinguished…slowly but surely we’re picking up where we left off.
Deep Ellum is where I live, work and play. The vitality is returning to the community. The spirit and creativity of the neighborhood are being reinvented by “long time” and new residents and businesses alike. There’s a certain attractiveness that has just gotten better with age. That’s why I’m in love… And, the inspiration for my internet web designs!
The Move… Deep Ellum, Texas
The reasoning was simple and straightforward… moving closer to Parkland Hospital, establishes a Dallas county address, and the ability to qualify for Parkland Plus (Healthcare), plus in the log run, a better quality of life. After the surreal episodes of February through June of 2011, a heart attack (totally out of nowhere) and several additional stays in the hospital…it was definitely time for a change. My studio loft at The Broadstone Ambrose allows me to rehabilitate and easily meet my medical obligations at Parkland Hospital—-with the added bonus of living in Deep Ellum, a vibrant community trying to re-invent itself!!!
